• The All New Dining Room

It sure has been a while! But not to worry, my absence as a blogger has not been due to a lack of home decor ideas that I want to share!

I have been very busy, working on lots of different rooms in my home, and now I will finally take the time to stop and show you.

    Today, it’s the dining room.

Like all the rooms in my house, the paint in the dining room was old and tired and far brighter than I prefer.

Dining Room BeforeThe door on the right leads to a wheelchair accessible bathroom that was installed where the butler’s pantry should be. Someday we will put the pantry back in, but for now, we do have a bathroom in our dining room…that isn’t fully enclosed. Yup.

In the other direction there are beautiful windows which which flood the room with morning sunlight.

In keeping with the style and age of the home, I turned to Craigslist in order to furnish the room.

First, I found a great chandelier.

Then I also picked up a beautiful antique mahogany dining set.

So without further ado, here is our new dining room!

I picked the bold color over a year ago and loved it immediately. It feels historic and fits in well with the rest of the house.

I finally found a spot to hang the Penny Backer bridge artwork that reminds me of my other, other home, Austin. I used to live 10 minutes from this iconic landmark, and I feel a little bit warmer whenever I look at this picture. (To see our Texas house reno, click here)

I picked up the pencil tree at Michael’s and I love having a smaller one to decorate a little earlier than Thanksgiving.

Are you sick of looking at homes decorated for Christmas yet? Well stay interested for a little bit longer so I can show you mine! There are three more rooms to reveal if I can keep them clean long enough to get good pictures. Stay tuned!
